Disneyland Tokyo was planned to be our activity on a certain day of the week during our vacation. It had started raining early in the morning that day we had planned to go and after thinking about it during breakfast, we still decided to venture out in the rain.
We didn’t pack proper rain gear as we only saw rain in the forecast for one day. We layered a little bit since it was in the mid 40s (Fahrenheit) and grabbed an umbrella for each of us from the 7-11 next to our hotel. We made our way to subway but had to transfer on the JRail in an area we hadn’t been yet. Walking back and forth in the rain trying to find the correct station made it a little difficult but thankfully we were always heading in the right direction and many would tell us to just keep going.
We were already a little wet from this train transfer but made it to the Disney Tokyo. Along the sea of umbrellas, we made our way into the park. This Disney park is covered near the main area which was great. We got to see the tree, some performances and walk around some of the shops while we tried to wait for the rain to die down a little. We even stood in line for a half hour to get our picture taken!
The rain never died down so we decided to walk out into the park anyways. We walked in and out of the stores, grabbing food and quickly walked around the whole park. Amazingly enough, the wait at each ride was still significant and the crowds were not as small as expected. The rain did stop as we were ending so we looped back around one more quick time. However our shoes were wet and it wasn’t the most comfortable walk around.
Most of the rides at Disneyland Tokyo were the same as those in Disneyland California or Disney World so we didn’t stop to wait for any of the rides in the rain. Our main purpose was to walk around the park and see what the differences which were mainly noticed in the food options and souvenirs.
If it happens to be raining the day you go to Disneyland Tokyo, it’ll still be a fun day! Bring an extra pair of socks if you don’t have rain boots and layer up as it can get cold outside. If you didn’t bring an umbrella from home, no worries! The big clear plastic ones from 7-11 will only run you $5-8 USD and it’s actually a good quality (especially compared to those smelly cheap $5 umbrellas in NYC). Purchasing your ticket online could also save you some time of standing in the rain to purchase them onsite.
