I must admit that I love a good green smoothie. There’s just something refreshing about the cold mixture of fruit and a green vegetable that can be had at anytime during the day. It’s even better when it only requires a few ingredients that you most likely already have in your kitchen and only takes a couple minutes to put together.

When I first started getting into green smoothies, the internet was filled was many options. I tried a few, some good, some bad and some too complicated. Kale was at it’s peak of being trendy but I just didn’t like the texture of it in blended smoothies and found that spinach blended smoother for me.

After some trial and error, I only ended up with frozen pineapples, a banana, a handful of spinach and almond milk. Today, I prefer to use the unsweetened coconut-almond milk blend as it gives the drink a little more flavor than the plain unsweetened almond milk. The frozen pineapple means I don’t need to add ice to my drink and the sweetness of the pineapple and banana balance out the spinach.

This smoothie is my go to for when I know that I haven’t had enough greens in a day or even in the morning with my breakfast or after a work out. When I’m really stumped on what to eat or make for a meal, Steve knows me to heat up chicken nuggets and have a green smoothie with it.

To make this simple smoothie, all you need is;

A handful of spinach
1 Banana
A small handful of pineapple chunks (maybe about 6-7 pieces depending on your preference)
About a 1/2 cup of coconut-almond milk (+/- depending on your thickness preference)

Steve and I actually bought this Ninja Blender a couple years ago when he was living in his own apartment (and I wanted to make smoothies there). The blades still work like a charm and how quickly and smoothly it blends is still amazing to me.

For those looking to add some greens to your daily intake, this simple 4 ingredient smoothie will be a quick and tasty way to get your nutrients in. If you were looking for more protein or fiber, feel free to add different powders or seeds to your drink. Enjoy!
